Hi everyone! Well my name is Johanna and I am part of the fifth period English class. So far English this year has been passing by quick and hasn't been bad at all. I've enjoyed most of the many things we have done by far this school year. However, what I've linked the most in English class is reading stories , relating to them, and then reflecting upon them. By doing this it has given us the opportunity to express our ideas and opinions. Also I've enjoyed this because we learn new strategies of how to understand what we are reading and how to relate to it in different perspectives. For example, when reading The Alchemist we would take notes and then answer questions based on our reading which help dissect the story. I also really enjoyed creating the puzzle the gave out the overall message of "The Alchemist."
I did some research on the author of "A Dolls House", Henrik Ibsen, and there were quite some interesting facts. Henrik Ibsen was born on March 28,1828 in Skien,Norway. He died on May 23,1906. At the age of fifteen he felt force to leave his house due to the failure of his fathers business. He then worked as a pharmacist's assistant for about the next six years of his life and that is where he started writing his first play. He later on left Norway and lived in Italy and Germany for about twenty-seven years. He worked at a theatre where he wrote plays that weren't very successful or they were either a failure or rejected. It is said that his plays dealt or were about real life problems with individuals and other conflicts in society. Based on some of the things I read about the author I think A Dolls house will be about a conflict between people and the way the conflict becomes bigger and maybe difficult to resolve. The reason why I believe this is because in his biography it mentions how his message across was how society hinders personal development.
